Not sure how a mental facility could have rules and expect people with mental problems to adhere but a facility, Marr Addiction Treatment Center, a dual mental health and addiction facility in DeKalb County,, on the outskirts of Atlanta will probably be changing that policy after a landmark judgment against them was just won by a man’s family.
The facility asked the man, Nicholas Carusillo, who suffered from bipolar disorder and who had an addiction problem to leave the facility because he was using his cell phone.
Carusillo then went and laid on the freeway, naked, in the fetal position, and as a result, was run over by several cars and killed. This incident happened five years ago and the family was just awarded 77 million in judgment for the carlessness of the facility.
Carusillo had relocated from North Carolina to Georgia in the hopes of getting better assistance with his bipolar disorder and addiction issues.
