In tandem with the two-year anniversary of the nationally syndicated Café Mocha Radio, Miles Ahead Broadcasting announced today a new advertising sales agreement with Cumulus Media Networks for the show.   Café Mocha Radio joins a prestigious group of broadcast properties that include The Michael Baisden Show, Cannon’s Countdown with Nick Cannon,   ESPN Radio, Radio Perez with Perez Hilton, Mike & Mike Show, and American Country Countdown with Kix Brooks to name a few.

Hosted by Grammy-nominated artist MC Lyte, actress/comedienne Loni Love (E! Entertainment’s “Chelsea Lately”) and broadcast veteran Angelique Perrin, Café Mocha brings a unique “niche” to the Cumulus advertising portfolio as the only national radio show that taps into the lifestyle of women of color with the latest in urban music, news and celebrity interviews.   The show has already attracted savvy advertisers who understand the impact of the African-American female consumer and the more than $1.2 trillion buying power they represent.   Café Mocha’s recent successful integrated broadcast promotions include campaigns with Comcast Xfinity; Susan G. Komen Foundation’s Circle of Promise; ROI Marketing, Essence Communications (Essence Music Festival);and    The Dr. Oz Show.

“It’s an exciting time for us as we grow our various brand extensions and answer the requests of our listeners to be everywhere and to go mobile,” said creator and executive producer Sheila Eldridge.  “Our new Café Mocha To Go on-demand app has been a huge success, offering listeners’ uncut content, exclusive celebrity interviews, social commentary, on-demand music mixes by MC Lyte, and inspirational messages.  Our goal is to expand the on-air experience for listeners and increase our global presence!”

Since its 2010 inception, the popular radio show has brought a distinct perspective to urban adult contemporary (UAC) listeners in New York, NY, Chicago, IL, Washington, DC, Baltimore, MD, Greensboro, NC, Savannah, GA with new affiliates in Norfolk, VA and Memphis, Tenn.   Café Mocha has become the top-rated UAC show in its weekend time slot at New York affiliate WBLS-FM with both male and female demographics thanks to PPM-friendly features like the “Lyte Mix” and the “Swag Award.”

“We’re excited to have Café Mocha as a part of the WBLS family.  It’s a great vehicle that taps into the lifestyle of today’s African-American women,” said Skip Dillard (WBLS and WLIB), Operations Manager of WBLS-FM/WLIB-AM.

A recent radio study, done by Mark Fratrik, vice president at Chantilly, Va.-based BIA/Kelsey states that “the radio industry has maintained its value, both from a dollar and sales volume perspective.    Sales across the country have been steady.   Unlike most other media, radio advertising continued its steady pace of growth throughout 2011, with national and new media sales especially strong.”

Created by and for women of color, 2012 is poised to be a break-out year for Café Mocha and its growing brands that include an interactive website, on-demand mobile app, in-market events with customized broadcast integration promotions.
