Netanyahu’s Congressional Address
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is scheduled to address Congress today, seeking support for Israel’s war against Hamas. His visit has resulted in heightened security measures across Washington, DC.
Heightened Security Measures
Security is significantly increased around the district, particularly at Capitol Hill. Police presence is heavy, with officers stationed around the Capitol grounds. Additional police buses from various agencies, including 200 officers from NYPD, have been deployed.
Protests and Demonstrations
Protests are expected throughout the day. Demonstrators have started gathering at Third and Constitution, and Third in Pennsylvania, where hundreds of signs are being prepared. The ANSWER Coalition has organized transportation, bringing protesters from as far away as Georgia, Michigan, and Indiana.
Protests Yesterday
Protest actions began yesterday. Families of Israeli hostages held by Hamas held a demonstration, sharing stories of their kidnapped loved ones and calling for a ceasefire and the release of the hostages.
Arrests and Vandalism
More than 200 demonstrators with Jewish Voices for Peace were arrested in the Capitol Rotunda after they refused to disperse. Additionally, around two dozen pro-Palestinian protesters used orange paint in Northwest DC to demand an end to the war.

Security measures and road closures are expected to change dynamically based on security needs. The main protest is scheduled to start at 11 AM, and Netanyahu’s speech is set for 2 PM.
