Nick Cannon's 'Wild 'N Out' Breaks Records

MTV’s bigger and bolder “Wild ‘N Out” premiere on Thursday, June 29, was the network’s highest rated unscripted episode with P12-17 in more than two years, up a whopping 143% while young adults P18-34 were up 86%. The episode garnered a 1.0 P12-17 and .7 P18-34.

“A return to New York City and our incredible partnership with superstar host and creator Nick Cannon set the stage for the biggest, boldest, wildest season yet of this groundbreaking comedy franchise,” said Nina L. Diaz, Head of Unscripted Programming, MTV and VH1. “We’re thrilled with ‘Wild ‘N Out’s’ stellar performance thanks to Nick and Chance’s epic head to head battle.”

The series’ first-ever hour-long episode featured Chance the Rapper as the guest captain and Saba as the musical guest with additional A-list talent to appear throughout.

It was the #3 most social show on cable with social interactions +27% from last season’s premiere.

This success comes on the heels of MTV’s overall channel success which saw June P18-34 ratings up +3% with share up +12% vs. last year, a first since 2011.

“Wild ‘N Out” airs weekly at 11:00 p.m. ET/PT as part of MTV’s “Throwdown Thursdays” comedy block. The ninth season is back in New York City and on the biggest stage in the world – Broadway. Guest captains for the season include some of the hottest stars in music and entertainment from Rick Ross, Lil Yachty, Vic Mensa, and Blac Chyna, to the cast of the “New Edition Story,” Run the Jewels, Jake Miller, Remy Ma, Papoose, Young M.A, Wendy Williams, Lil Rel Howery, Tami Roman, Shameik Moore and more.
