In a tragic incident that occurred at a hotel in Mississippi, a Louisiana pastor named Danny Prenell Jr., 25, fatally shot his wife, identified as Gabby Prenell, 27, in the presence of their three children before turning the gun on himself. Danny Prenell Jr. served as the lead pastor at the Bright Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church in Pineville, Louisiana.

The distressing event unfolded at the Hampton Inn hotel in McComb, Mississippi, around 3:30 pm. Prior to the shooting, Danny Prenell Jr. shared a picture on Facebook, featuring himself, his wife, and their children, accompanied by a caption that read, “I may not be a perfect man, but I’ll always be a family man.”

A photograph published by The Enterprise-Journal depicted blood-stained floors near the hotel lobby’s elevators, bearing witness to the horrifying act. Investigating authorities revealed that Danny Prenell Jr. allegedly shot his wife twice before taking his own life.

The condition of both individuals remains undisclosed by the authorities. However, a Facebook post from a friend of Gabby mentioned that she was still fighting and receiving medical care in an intensive care unit. The couple was swiftly transported to the University of Mississippi Medical Center for treatment.

As a result of this devastating incident, the couple’s three children have been placed under the care of child protective services, ensuring their safety and well-being during this challenging time.

According to Danny Prenell Jr.’s Facebook page, he previously worked as a sheriff’s deputy with the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Department until as recently as December 2022. On April 6, he expressed his admiration and love for his wife on her birthday, referring to her as his queen and the woman to whom he owed his life. He praised her qualities as a mother, wife, and best friend, acknowledging her class, discretion, integrity, and strong faith.

Through his Facebook posts, the pastor often discussed his personal growth and aspirations. He expressed his relentless pursuit of self-improvement, refusing to settle for his current state. In one post on April 16, he highlighted the importance of avoiding limited thinking and remaining faithful to a limitless God, emphasizing his belief that his blessings would overflow abundantly.
