Music publisher Som Livre Edições Musicais, headquartered in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, has signed a sub publishing agreement with BMG covering North America, Israel and almost the entire European continent. BMG will represent Som Livre in these key markets to secure synchronization opportunities for its celebrated catalog of music including songs from the Latin Grammy winning singer Maria Gadú and the superstar artist Luan Santana.
The worldwide media focus will be on Brazil when the country hosts the 2014 FIFA World Cup and the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. The events will also provide a platform for Brazilian artists to present their works to a global audience.
“Som Livre has uniquely situated itself as the barometer of Brazilian and South American pop culture,” said Keith Hauprich, Vice President Business & Legal Affairs & A/V Business Development at BMG Chrysalis. “With the upcoming events, Brazilian culture will be a major global export. We welcome the tremendous opportunities ahead and appreciate the trust of Marcelo Soares (Som Livre’s CEO) and his team.”
“We are confident this strategic deal with BMG will create mutually beneficial opportunities and expand the reach of Som Livre’s catalog internationally,” added Luiz Cláudio T.Moura, International Music Publishing Coordinator at Som Livre.
