Sony Music Publishing Renews Global Partnership with Indian Music Label

In a significant move to bolster the global presence of Indian music, Sony Music Publishing (SMP) has renewed and expanded its exclusive partnership with Tips Music, an esteemed Indian music label. This multi-year agreement enhances SMP’s rights to Tips Music’s extensive catalog, which boasts over 32,000 tracks across 24 languages, encompassing some of India’s most cherished film soundtracks and popular tunes. ​

Key Highlights of the Renewed Agreement:

  • Global Digital Platforms: The deal includes administration, synchronization, and enhanced promotion of Tips Music’s repertoire across various global digital platforms.
  • YouTube Collaboration: A notable addition to this partnership is the inclusion of YouTube (excluding India) as a primary platform for the international publishing of Tips Music’s catalog. ​
  • Strategic Focus: Both companies aim to amplify the global reach of Indian music, particularly as Bollywood soundtracks gain traction in international markets.

Plans for New Releases:

Tips Music has announced plans to release 12 to 15 Bollywood and regional film albums annually. Additionally, the label is set to introduce a series of independent music releases under its Tips Originals brand. ​

Financial Performance:

In the third quarter of fiscal year 2025, ending December 31, 2024, Tips Music reported revenues of INR 777 million (approximately USD 9.2 million), marking a 20% increase compared to the same period the previous year. ​
