"SportsMedicineWeekly" On Chicago's ESPN Radio 1000 Kicks Off Season with Stellar Lineup

Dr. James AndrewsSportsMedicineWeekly , kicks off its 2013 season on ESPN Radio 1000 this month with Dr. James Andrews, a world renowned sports medicine physician whose patients are some of the most famous professional athletes of all time. Dr. Andrews will discuss the alarming increase in sports injuries in young athletes today.

SMW is the only Midwest radio show that focuses on prevention and treatment of sports injuries for a wide array of athletes. It airs Saturdays from 7 to 8 a.m.

The show, which reaches 107 million fans every week, is hosted by Steve Kashul, Chicago Bulls Radio Personality, and Dr. Brian Cole, sports medicine specialist at Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush, head team physician for the Chicago Bulls and co-team physician for the Chicago White Sox.

Dr. Cole has been named one of the top sports medicine specialists in the U.S. Steve Kashul appears on the Chicago Bulls Radio Network and is host of Channel Fore, Inc., which produces The Golf Scene TV show.

The show appeals to high school, college and pro athletes, weekend warriors and sports lovers and provides insight into what professional athletes face in training and competition, as well as tips for staying fit and injury-free. Topics include: overuse injuries, injury prevention, how to stay in shape during off-season, obesity in sports and the importance of early intervention.

Additional guests in April include: Health Counselor Karen Malkin, who will talk about the 14-day transformational cleanse; Dr. Anthony Romeo, shoulder surgeon at Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush, who will speak about baseball injuries of the shoulder; and Dr. Charles Bush-Joseph, orthopedic surgeon at Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush and head team physician for the Chicago White Sox, who will discuss what it takes to be prepared for the start of major league baseball.

SMW will soon be featured on WebTalkRadio.net, one of the fastest-growing internet talk radio portals backed by a network of over 400 radio stations, reaching 3.5 million people per week.

Proceeds from sponsorship of this show go to LiveActive Fund for Orthopedic Research and Education, a non-profit organization focusing on managing joint pain and cartilage disease at Rush University Medical Center and Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush.
