Suspect Identified
Memphis Police have identified 45-year-old Monica Williams as the suspect in the fatal shooting of a Church’s Chicken employee on Monday night. A warrant for her arrest has been issued, and police are actively searching for her.
Previous Conviction
Williams has a documented violent past. Records show that in 2009, she was convicted of aggravated assault for an incident that occurred five years earlier. In 2004, Williams attacked a pregnant woman, Israel Brit Taylor, in Orange Mound.
Details of the 2004 Attack
Taylor recounted how Williams stabbed her with a large knife during an altercation. At the time, Taylor was eight months pregnant. The stress from the fight caused complications, resulting in Taylor’s son being born via emergency C-section due to the umbilical cord wrapping around his neck.
Current Charges
Monica Williams is currently wanted for the murder of 48-year-old Anitra West, who was working at Church’s Chicken in Orange Mound on Monday night. West was gunned down in the restaurant.
Call for Assistance
Authorities have issued a first-degree murder warrant for Williams. They urge anyone with information on her whereabouts to contact Crimestoppers at 901-528-CASH.
