Rickey Smiley wanted to know if the Latinos had a song that came out before “Rapper’s Delight.”  Da Brat said, “not that the world know.” The morning show discussed rap groups that could have put out the first record, such as Menudo or The Jets.

“If you wanna go way back to the African villages when they was beating on them drums. I mean that was technically hip-hop even before hip-hop,” said the radio DJ.

Fat Joe said growing up in the Bronx in New York allowed him to witness different things about music, informed Gary. When hip-hop started, it was created by Latinos and blacks, half and half.  The father of three then spoke about how he got naysayers to disagree with him.
