The Rickey Smiley Morning Show discussed Will Smith taking advice from someone with a history of domestic violence. Gary With Da Tea said people are still talking about Will Smith. This past weekend Smith spoke about the slap at a private event where he revealed his new movie “Emancipation.”
During the private screening, Smith spoke about Floyd Mayweather’s support after the Oscars fiasco. Gary said everyone knows the slap came after Chris Rock made a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith. According to Will, Mayweather called him ten days, in a row, after the incident to ensure he was okay.
“ Floyd and I met each other,” said Smith. “We’ve seen each other around, but we weren’t like friends.”
Gary said Smith gave his speech to the crowd at the special showing. Mayweather gave Will encouragement, telling him he was the “champ.” Will said that he and Mayweather were friends forever.
Fans were quick to point out Mayweather’s past, saying that he had a history of domestic violence and perhaps was not the right person to give the actor advice, explained Gary. “People said how in the h*** you gonna sit here and call somebody and talk about how good they are, they said, coming from a person with a long history of domestic violence,” informed Gary.
The “I am Legend” star was “checked” on by a concerned friend, said Da Brat. Gary agreed that Mayweather did a great job of keeping in contact with Will during that time. The morning show agreed that ten days in a row was a long time to check in with someone.
