TUSCALOOSA, AL – Theatre Tuscaloosa Academy is offering a series of four virtual acting classes for youth and adults that will be held November 10 – December 1 and instructed by professional performer Kenyatta “YaYa” Browne.
The classes will be offered over Zoom on Tuesday evenings. Youth classes (for ages 12-16) will meet at 7:00 p.m., and adult classes (for ages 17+) will meet at 7:45 p.m. Each class can be taken independently, or all four can be purchased together for a discount. Classes include the following:
- Tuesday, November 10 – How to Self-Tape an Audition
- Tuesday, November 17 – What They Never Tell You About Auditions
- Tuesday, November 24 – Nailing a Cold Reading
- Tuesday, December 1 – Owning the Monologue
The class instructor, Kenyatta Browne, holds a B.S. in Communications from Mississippi College. She has worked professionally in theatre, television, film, and print. She recently performed with Theatre Tuscaloosa as “Mabel” in Crowns and as “Clairee” in Steel Magnolias. She has performed professionally as “Amah” in Harlem Duet, “Mrs. Breedlove” in The Blues Eye, and “Wanda” in Crowns with Tony Award winner Melba Moore. Tuition for individual classes is $10 for adults or $5 for students (K-12 or college). When participants register for all four in advance, they receive a discounted tuition of $30 for adults or $15 for students.
