Iconic radio host, entrepreneur, and philanthropist Tom Joyner will serve as the keynote speaker for Shaw University’s 2017 Spring Commencement exercises, to be held Saturday, May 13 at the Raleigh Convention Center beginning at 10:00 a.m.
Officials say they are overjoyed to welcome the noted HBCU philanthropist and advocate, who reaches more than 8 million listeners weekly as host of the syndicated ‘Tom Joyner Morning Show.’
“Mr. Joyner’s tremendous professional career coupled with many years of distinguished and dedicated community and public service will serve as an inspiration for our graduates, their families, students, faculty, staff, alumni, and the community,” said Shaw University President, Tashni-Ann Dubroy.
The Radio Hall of Fame member has received dozens of professional and cultural accolades, and is recognized as a past winner of the NAACP Image Award, Impact Magazine’s “Joe Loris Award” for Excellence in Broadcasting and Billboard’s “Best Urban Contemporary Air Personality” award.
