TOM JOYNER AND STEVE HARVEY ALERT! New Black Radio Station to Replace WAMO in Pittsburgh?

Tom Joyner and Steve Harvey have probably already started calling this man (laugh)… PLEASE NO MORE SYNDICATION can we have LOCAL community Radio Station in Pittsburgh that caters to the locals PLEASE! Let me program that Radio Station .Before his friend Harvey Adams died, media mogul Eddie Edwards spoke with him about about finding a way to replace the loss of WAMO, the city’s last Black radio Radio Station . And at Adams’ funeral, Edwards said he promised he would do it.EDDIE EDWARDSNow it appears, Edwards is just days away from fulfilling that promise. He told the New Pittsburgh Courier he is still nailing down some loose ends, but plans to hold a press conference making a formal announcement early next week.“Don’t be surprised if I announce that I have negotiated a deal to buy a property and put a Black radio Radio Station back on the air,” he said. “The numbers of African-Americans in radio have diminibusiness and for attracting residents.“It’s missed by everyone, not just African-Americans,” he said. “Can you imagine people looking at Pittsburgh for relocation asking, ‘Where’s the Black Radio Station ?” and hearing there is none? We’re the only major metropolitan city without a Black radio Radio Station . We have 27 percent African-Americans in the city and, 13 percent in the county–that’s an audience that can’t be ignored.” [source]

  1. This is great news! I wish Eddie great success. He is a great person, boadcaster and business man. As a WAMO alumnus I am glad Pittsburgh will have another Black station. Congratulations Eddie thanks for stepping up.
Sorry to hear about Harvey. My sympathy to his family.

  2. Greetings to you Mr. Edwards,

Another radio station in North Carolina was recently silenced without a notice…..

I am a black woman with 20 years of radio management skills and would love the opportunity to make the WAMO station work again.

You may reach me immediately on lifthimupdaily@gmail.com

    Sincerely,

    Sister Dee
