Underworld and Ø [Phase] Release “Border Country” (The Remixes) Remixes by Adam Beyer and Bart Skils, and Ø [Phase]
Underworld have released two new versions of ‘Border Country‘, a track co-written with British electronic producer Ashley Burchett (aka Ø [Phase]) and taken from their recently released album DRIFT: Series One.
The first mix by techno legends Adam Beyer and Bart Skils has already been noticed by many after having featured heavily in Beyer’s sets over the summer. Beyer and Skils deliver a thunderous rolling techno remix full of floor-filling beats, driving acid bass and ripping synth sounds. Karl Hyde’s distinctive vocals have been stretched and manipulated to create a haunting over-hang and there is a flawless breakdown of time-stretched strings, synths and nostalgic FX, maintaining that timeless Underworld sound.
The second mix – Ø [Phase] Dark Room Tension Dub – is a subtle reworking that redefines the track into a pacing roller, the delicate additions and small changes make this one elegantly different from the original. Driving in fast right from the beginning Ø [Phase] has crafted a darker version of the original that focuses on the rhythmic elements and pumps Karl’s voice through heavy dub delays. Throwing in some timing changes and developing rhythms, Ø [Phase] has given the track the dark tension building rework it was always yearning for.
These are the first remixes of DRIFT material. Underworld will shortly tour Europe before heading to the UK for a show at the Warehouse Project in Manchester (Dec 5th) and their biggest ever headline show at Wembley Arena on December 7th.
