TheIndustry.biz is sad to report that dj legend Kevin Allen Sr, 51 aka Soni D was killed in a head on car crash Monday. Reports state that he had just come back from Los Angeles to attend his daughter’s graduation then he was driving west on Highway 58 near Harper Lake Road at 3:20 p.m. when he drove into eastbound lanes to pass a vehicle in front of him in Hinkley, CA. He ended up in the lane with oncoming traffic and crashed head on with another vehicle.Soni was considered a pioneer in the Memphis club scene as well as the national radio industry. He is a three-time Billboard Magazine Award Winner for his work as production manager, producer and engineer for “Tom Joyner ‘s On The Move” nationally syndicated countdown show.
UPDATE: This makes it even more tragic.  Soni was coming back from Vegas where he had just remarried his former wife Monica. She was in the car and is critical condition. (It was a surprise, even the kids didn’t know.)  With all of her injuries, she‘s likely to be hospitalized for a while.  The kids are going to be raising funds to transport him back to Chicago for the service and his daughter will be setting up a paypal account to take donations for hat in lieu of flowers.  If you can help, please do.
