Warner Bros. Pictures, WaterTower Music and gamma. announce the December 21st arrival of Alicia’ Keys’ Lifeline video. The song heralds from THE COLOR PURPLE (MUSIC FROM AND INSPIRED BY), the soundtrack album for the upcoming, newly reimagined motion picture release The Color Purple.
A star-studded musical journey, THE COLOR PURPLE (MUSIC FROM AND INSPIRED BY) features beloved songs from director Blitz Bazawule’s bold new film, in addition to original material inspired by the rich tapestry of the film’s narratives. Only in theaters, the film releases on December 25th.
A stunning, heartfelt ode to the unequivocal comfort emanating from friends, family and community that holds us up as we face life’s challenging moments, Lifeline showcases Keys’ multi-faceted musical talents. Keys wrote the song inspired by the film’s rich storytelling, and co-produced it with partners Tricky Stewart (Beyoncé and Rihanna), Marshmello (Selena Gomez, Juice Wrld) and TMS (Dua Lipa, Lewis Capaldi).
On December 21st, beginning at 11:00 am ET/8:00 am PT, the video will premiere on MTV, airing every music hour on MTVU, MTV Live & MTV Biggest Pop. Concurrently, the video premieres on BET and YouTube/Vevo. Lifeline was directed by the award-winning, legendary, visionary Diane Martel (Miley Cyrus, Mariah Carey), who is also Keys’ creative director.
Keys has already made the song a showstopper, as <a href="she included it during an impromptu performance at London’s St. Pancras Station, delighting throngs of commuters, and as part of her live set at Capital Radio’s Jingle Ball at the O2 Arena. Additionally, <a href="she performed the song on the stage of NYC’s iconic Webster Hall for the Diary of Alicia Keys: One Night Only show.
Keys is joined on the soundtrack by an incomparable array of music luminaries, including H.E.R., USHER, Megan Thee Stallion, Jennifer Hudson, Mary J. Blige, Fantasia, Missy Elliott, Halle Bailey, Keyshia Cole, Coco Jones, Taraji P. Henson, Timbaland, Jorja Smith, The-Dream, Celeste, Mary Mary, Darkchild, October London and more. The Color Purple (Music From And Inspired By) is the biggest R&B soundtrack in decades, boasting 17 songs from the film, 16 newly penned songs and four remixes.
The score for the film, composed by Kris Bowers, will be released on December 25th.
