WGOW Talks Sports Launches Coca-Cola Red Zone Initiative 2

Cumulus Media (NASDAQ: CMLS) announces that WGOW/Talk Radio 102.3 FM’s SportsTalk in Chattanooga, TN, has joined with Coca-Cola, the Center for Sports Medicine and Orthopaedics, and Warren & Griffin, to award $3,000 to a local Chattanooga-area high school’s athletic program.

The promotion celebrates the 30th anniversary season of the Coca-Cola Red Zone.

Listeners may visit www.wgow.com to nominate their favorite local high school athletic program by submitting an online entry form with their name, the name of the school being nominated, and a brief description of what makes that school’s program stand out.

Scott ‘Quake’ McMahen, Co-Host, Talk Radio 102.3 FM’s SportTalk, said: “We want to hear great stories from local schools celebrating how athletics is a positive part of education and invite all area high schools to submit their most inspiring stories.”

Joe ‘Cowboy’ Varner, Co-Host, Talk Radio 102.3 FM’s SportsTalk, noted: “Sports made a huge impact on our lives, and we want to honor the schools, athletic programs, and student athletes throughout this region.”

Jed Mescon, Program Director, Talk Radio 102.3 FM, added: “We can’t wait to share those stories with our audiences. Athletics sets the foundation for our youth and we’re proud to spotlight these great stories.”

The award presentation will be made on-air on Talk 102.3 FM during the remote broadcast of the BlueCross Bowl Tennessee High School Football Championships on December 1-3.

SportTalk has been an afternoon destination for more than a generation for Chattanooga sports fans, fanatics, and even the most casual sports followers.

Beginning in 1986, J. David Miller, a writer for SPORT Magazine, began an evening call-in show on 1150 WGOW-AM, joined later by the larger-than-life figure, Gary Haskew, ‘Doctor Basketball.’

Scott and Joe continue the tradition weekdays on Talk 102.3 FM from 3:00pm-7:00 pm, with lively discussions about local high school, college, and professional sports.
