Last time we checked, the first amendment in the Constitution gives us the right to assemble. I guess that doesn’t apply to black business owners in the state of Iowa. Jeremiah Johnson the owner of Stylent, a sportswear brand, was evicted from his rental space because the owner of the building saw him protesting on television and just assumed he was part of the looting or rioting. In the video, Jeremiah is pleading with the owner to let him stay as he explains that he was just peacefully protesting. The building owner is not trying to hear it and continues to state his case. Johnson has now launched a GoFundMe and is workign with the court to handle this situation.
We got kicked out from our business office space by our landlord cuz he saw us on the news peacefully protesting.Violating our 1st amendment rights and the lease. Please share this video! When other people protest for haircuts, it’s great! But when I protest peaceful it’s bad!! pic.twitter.com/PuGkC3QMmA
