Woman killed in a deadly hit and run on I-25, Colorado Springs

Hit and Run

The Colorado Springs Police Department reported at around 1 a.m. on Wednesday that a woman was killed in a hit-and-run incident by a semi-truck. The semi-truck driver stayed on the scene even after the accident happened. According to sources on the ground, drugs, alcohol, and speeding do not appear to be factored in the accident.

In response to this incident, the roads were closed for a couple of hours, pending investigations by the police. However, the road was back open by 4.30 a.m.

The woman who was struck by the semi-truck was declared dead at 1.10 a.m. The crash happened just in close proximity to the exit for Lake Ave and Circle Dr., right between the Broadmoor World Arena and the MLK Bypass. This story is still developing, and the CSPD is still conducting its investigations as to what happened.

However, the department warns everyone to avoid this area and drive safely. Today, this area will have a lot of traffic congestion, so it’s best to avoid it as much as possible. In Colorado, the number of people seriously injured and killed due to heavy vehicles and semi-trucks has been on the rise, with most collisions involving such vehicles.

More than a third of the traffic fatalities within this state are caused by large commercial vehicles. All drivers within the state are warned to take this to heart when on the road, including pedestrians.

We’ll ensure to keep you updated as the story develops. All in all, the CSPD is taking this case seriously, and we expect to see results by the end of the day, if not sooner.
