In a tragic incident in 2021, a pregnant woman was shot and killed in a Northside park in Florida.
The accused, Reginald Perry Jr., has recently pled guilty to two counts of first-degree murder and has been sentenced to life in Florida State Prison.
The victim, identified as Felicia Jones by her mother, was found unresponsive near the dock in Riverview Park.
Despite the efforts of JSO and Jacksonville Fire Rescue Department crews, she was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy revealed that Jones died from a gunshot wound.
Perry was identified as a possible suspect and was subsequently arrested. Jones’ family has shared that she was due to give birth on Oct. 8, and that Perry was the father of her unborn child.
This heartbreaking incident serves as a reminder of the need for greater efforts to prevent gun violence and protect vulnerable individuals in our communities.
