World Mental Health Day – BMI Partners with More or Less (With Jess) on New Series ‘Struck a Chord’

BMI and More or Less (With Jess) partnered to produce a new series, Struck a Chord, to highlight the importance of mental health and the power of music and lyrics in the healing process for both creators and fans. The three-part series features interviews with BMI singer/songwriters Ashe, Lauv and Sarah Kinsley, and their fans on location at concerts, giving an insider’s look into how an artist’s mental health can impact their songwriting and how those lyrics resonate with fans who personalize and internalize them as a source of comfort and connection.

The first installment, launching today October 10th in honor of World Mental Health Day, features Ashe at her sold-out Brooklyn Bowl concert in Nashville. The “One Night Only” event saw fans from all across the country welcoming her back to the stage after a 22-month-long mental health hiatus. Watch the episode now by clicking here.

Additional installments will air in the coming weeks with Lauv (10/24) and Sarah Kinsley (11/7).

“BMI is thrilled to partner with More or Less (With Jess) on this new series to shine a spotlight on a topic that affects countless songwriters and fans, but is not spoken about enough,” said BMI’s SVP & Chief Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Officer Sandye Taylor.  “We’re thankful to our BMI family of songwriters and their fans for collaborating on this initiative by sharing their personal experiences on music’s healing powers to comfort, uplift, and connect and for helping us to bring awareness to World Mental Health Day.”

“In a world that often feels tense and turbulent, I believe lyrics have the power to connect our lived experiences and help us express, process, and convey powerful emotions,” shares More or Less (With Jess)’s Jessica McDevitt. “This series goes beyond just music; it’s about creating spaces for vulnerability and healing through storytelling. Partnering with BMI allows us to share narratives that empower creatives, songwriters, and fans alike to feel seen, understood, and heard through the transformative power of music.”
