WSB Radio Moves 95.5 FM Transmitter to East Atlanta and
Changes Name and Positioning Statement to 95.5 WSB Atlanta’s News & Talk
ATLANTA – Aug. 20, 2019 – Cox Media Group Atlanta’s WSB Radio (WSB-AM/WSBB-FM) has moved its 95.5 FM transmitter and antenna from Flowery Branch to East Atlanta and changed its official name and positioning statement to 95.5 WSB Atlanta’s News & Talk.
The move brings a stronger signal and better sound quality to residents in counties on the south, west and northwest side of metro Atlanta, including Henry, Paulding, Cobb, Bartow, Coweta, Cherokee and Douglas.
“With the new tower location, at least one million more people in Atlanta will now be able to listen to 95.5 WSB without static, loud and clear, both at home and at work,” says Pete Spriggs, WSB Radio’s director of branding and programming. “Office buildings in downtown and midtown Atlanta, Buckhead, Cumberland and Perimeter will now be able to listen to 95.5 on an FM radio and hear our news and talk with a strong signal.”
WSB Radio’s local news, traffic and weather coverage — along with local talk shows featuring Eric Von Haessler, Mark Arum, Erick Erickson and Clark Howard — will continue to air on the 750 AM dial, which has a 97-year broadcast history and is one of the most historic radio signals in the nation, reaching up to 30 states at night and serving as a major source of news and information for the entire Southeast for decades.
WSB Radio can also be heard via streaming at wsbradio.com, the WSB Radio App from Google Play or the iTunes App Store, and smart speaker devices such as Amazon Echo and Google Home.
Over the last two days, August 21, 22, while listening to 95.5 in Banks, Hall and Athen-Clarke Country Counties, it is half static and half clarity…very poor reception.
Those are not the target market. It’s unfortunate, but they need to put the transmitter in the middle of the market they are targeting. It’s a good move. Getting the signal out to Athens during the day is a heavy lift… can’t deny physics. 🙂
Congrads….on your transmitter move….as a DIRECT RESULT I / we / my entire family, have switched to wdun gainsville….we live just north of Athens ga…your signal dropped to NOTHING>..doesnt work on our car radios, table raidos etc…live stream on computer now requires a download of some one we dont know…..WHAT A DUMB ASS MISTAKE…CONGRADS..WAY TO GO…RUIN A OUTSTANDING RADIO STATION….??? T L Haught, Royston ga…..You did to yourself what no competitor could do to “take out” a competitor….job well done….
Besides being boring, I find WSB lost its power when Neil retired. There are many good talk DJ’s better than WSB’s childish line-up and fake paid commercials posing as programing. PM Eric is O.K. Morning Eric is Juvenile and his support staff are Loons.
Extremely poor reception since the changeover. I live just north of Athens and the static is so bad it is pointless to try and listen. WSB has many listeners in this area who commute to ATL to work every day. They depend on you for traffic reports. Shame on you WSB for not taking us into consideration.
I am ashamed for you to state that WSB radio is the “Home of the Dawgs”. The reception in Athens and surrounding area is subpar to what it was prior to this tower move. For 20 years I have relied on WSB for traffic reports. In the mornings on my drive to work, I need to know what’s going on, on the roads, but it’s so difficult to understand when there is static and other stations streaming in with stronger reception. Not worth listening to.

I am ashamed that WSB is “the Home of the Dawgs”. Since the tower move Athens and surrounding area reception has been subpar. We used to receive a great, clear signal anywhere in the NE until getting close to SC state line. Now, can’t even get clear reception IN Athens. WSB traffic used to get me to work each morning and home in the evenings, but since this move I’m covered in static and other stations trying to stream in all the way to the Gwinnett side of Braselton. It’s ridiculous that I can’t rely on the station I have listened to for over 20 years. Thanks for taking it away from those of us who live in the NE corridor of Athens.
I am a conservative but Rush and Sean bore the hell out of me. You could save some money by playing the same shows over and over and very few people would notice the difference in their three hour monologues. The only show I really like is Eric VonHessler. I’ve listened to him since he was just a regular guy. Well..I gotta go.
