Your Roots Are Showing (YRAS), Ireland’s premier folk and roots music conference, has announced its agenda for 2026. Scheduled to take place at ICC Belfast from January 14 to 18, the event promises a rich array of speakers, panels, and workshops aimed at industry professionals and music enthusiasts alike.

The conference kicks off on Wednesday, January 14, with Tai Chi led by Jim Lauderdale, setting a relaxed tone for the week. The day also includes a thought-provoking panel titled “Whose Voice Gets Heard? Gender, Power, and the Folk Revival,” featuring insights from Linda Coogan Byrne. Attendees can look forward to discussions on pressing issues like “Music, Climate & Creative Leadership,” with contributions from Maria Vittoria, Sean McGrath, and Clare Sands. Other highlights include a “Distribution 101” session with the Symphonic distribution team and “Social Media & Journalism” led by Ian Saint. Music enthusiasts can also engage in a workshop on mandolin playing with Wyatt Ellis, culminating in a keynote interview with the renowned Paddy Keenan.

Thursday, January 15, brings a variety of engaging discussions. Lanny West, Leslie Fram, and Dee White will share their experiences in “From Ruin to Relaunch,” exploring an artist’s journey after setbacks. Attendees can learn about the unique “Booking Process for Raglan Road at Disney” with John Cooke and participate in a songwriting workshop alongside Jim Lauderdale, Wallis Bird, and others. Jackie Martínez Marushka leads a panel on music journalism featuring seasoned journalists from various outlets, including Craig Shelburne (The Bluegrass Situation) and Cindy Watts (Nashville Lifestyle). The day also features a “Visa Workshop” hosted by Marshal Garbus and insights from United Talent Agency representatives during an “Ask an Agent” session.

The third day, January 16, includes Jackie Martínez Marushka’s return with her “PR and Branding” workshop, alongside a “Publishing Panel” led by Katherine DePaul.
