On the heels of his hit song “Sunrise” reaching No. 1 on the Irish Homegrown Chart, pop/folk singer-songwriter Darren Kiely announces his signing to Free Flight Records, a new creative hub and home for artists who embody the ethos and authentic storytelling of the Nashville music community but sonically lie outside the country genre, under the corporate umbrella of Sony Music Nashville.
In making the announcement, Sony Music Nashville’s Chairman and CEO Randy Goodman states, “Nashville has always been known as a song first community and as such attracts writers from all over the world to come to practice their craft. As we’ve seen that talent pool become a deep well, we decided to build a home to partner with and support those singer/songwriters that aren’t categorically ‘country.’ Darren Kiely is symbolic of this global new wave.”
“Sunrise” is featured on Kiely’s debut EP, Lost. His unique presentation of folk-infused pop and lush storytelling, which echoes the backdrop of the Irish countryside where he was raised, is the forefront of Lost. Kiely solo-wrote four of the seven tracks on the project and co-wrote the other three. The EP explores the triumphant war of overcoming self-doubt, struggling to find himself, questioning emotions and seeking answers. Lost features “Mom & Dad,” which debuted in the Top 40 on the Irish Singles Chart and also landed him in the Top 5 on the Irish Homegrown chart. Last week, Kiely released his new track, “Slow Decay,” a heart-wrenching song that battles moving on from something and struggling to let go.
Kiely took his new music on the road last fall, stopping for sold-out headlining shows in Boston and New York before bringing his THE ROAD HOME TOUR to his home country of Ireland in November. With stops in Cork, Dublin, Galway and Limerick, the Irish leg of the tour sold out the same day it went on sale. Following his headline tour, Kiely toured across Europe with the 502s. Kiely is currently on his almost sold-out headline THE LOST TOUR, where he’ll stop in major cities across North America including Dallas, Denver, Nashville, Seattle, Vancouver and others. Pulling inspiration from influences like Mumford & Sons, The Lumineers and Noah Kahan, Kiely has mastered his own distinctive sound while drawing in fans worldwide. With new music in the works, the Irish singer-songwriter is set to take 2024 by storm.
