Introduction
Philadelphia police are actively investigating a disturbing incident that occurred at the Alden Park Apartments in East Falls. A woman was attacked, knocked unconscious, and robbed by an unidentified assailant inside her apartment building. The incident, which took place in July, has left residents of the complex shaken and concerned for their safety.
Incident Overview
The attack happened on Monday, July 22nd, at approximately 4:40 p.m. in the Alden Park Apartments, located on the 5500 block of Wissahickon Avenue.
The victim, a woman whose identity has not been disclosed, was walking through the hallways of the apartment complex when Details of the Assault
According to the police, the suspect forced the woman into an empty room within the apartment building. Although the surveillance footage does not capture the entirety of the incident, it shows the suspect fleeing the scene with the victim’s bag in hand. The woman was discovered by an apartment employee, who immediately called 911. Fortunately, the victim was taken to the hospital but did not suffer any serious injuries. The attack has left residents of the Alden Park Apartments deeply concerned about their safety. Monica Macron, a resident of the complex, expressed her dismay after watching the surveillance video. She mentioned that the victim had been a manager at the complex for only three or four months before the incident. The attack has made residents question the security measures in place, particularly the effectiveness of the key fob system, which is supposed to restrict access to residents only. Another resident, Theo Dini, voiced her concerns about safety within the supposedly secure building. She highlighted the irony of having key fobs that are meant to prevent unauthorized access, yet such a violent incident still occurred. Dini’s sentiments reflect a growing unease among the residents, many of whom are now rethinking their own safety within the complex. In response to the incident, Action News reporters observed an increased presence of security personnel at the apartment complex. Security was seen making rounds on golf carts, presumably to monitor the area more closely. However, despite these efforts, there are still significant security lapses, such as the gate to one of the parking lots being left open for hours, allowing anyone to enter the premises unchecked.Resident Reactions
