A Harris County Details of the Shooting
Authorities were called to the scene after receiving multiple reports of a man pointing a weapon at random people and cars. When deputies arrived at the gas station, one deputy approached the suspect with his gun drawn. The suspect then pulled what appeared to be a weapon from his waistband, prompting the deputy to fire, hitting the suspect. The suspect was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Assistant Chief Tommy Diaz stated that deputies arrived at the scene within five minutes of the initial call. The suspect allegedly told deputies that his weapon was not real after he was shot. The deputies have not yet confirmed the authenticity of the weapon, as it is still being processed and will be taken into evidence. The suspect is described as a 47-year-old man with an outstanding felony warrant. No deputies were injured during the incident.
