A man jumped to his death during an apartment showing. The French financier leaped off the 32nd-floor balcony as he viewed the luxury apartment with a real estate agent, police said.
A police spokesman said Charles-Henry Kurzen, 43, landed on a third-floor patio at 100 United Nations Plaza in the Turtle Bay neighborhood around 1:15 p.m.
A Brooklyn resident, the French businessman asked to see the balcony during the showing and “then suddenly jumped off,” falling to his death, sources said.
Kurzen was pronounced dead at the scene.
The company’s website stated that the suicide victim was a financial banker and graduate from the Ecole Superieure de Commerce de Paris (ESCP) Business School, worked as a partner at Saltbox Partners LLC, and had years of experience in the French and New York financial industry.
The site added that he had previously worked as an analyst in the Mergers and Acquisitions Group at Lazard Freres & Co. in Paris.
Kurzen was regarded as a dear friend by a coworker who declined to comment.
In a 2004 New Yorker article, he was quoted as a “French Tuesdays” attendee, a weekly group of parties hosted for French ex-patriots based in New York City.
