Timbaland Offers Condolences for Music Legend “Magoo” Barcliff

Timbaland has offered his heartfelt tribute to his former rap collaborator, Magoo, who passed away at the age of 50.

Rapper Magoo, whose real name was Melvin Barcliff, was confirmed to have passed away on Sunday (August 13). This news came just two days after the widely recognized 50th anniversary of the birth of hip-hop.

(Photo provided by Huff Post) The exact cause of his demise has not been revealed. Following the announcement of Magoo’s passing, numerous music peers and fans have expressed their condolences for the late artist.

Music producer Timbaland, born Timothy Mosley, maintained a close working relationship with Magoo and together, they released three collaborative albums under the moniker Timbaland & Magoo.

Among their most iconic shared tracks are “Luv 2 Luv U” (1997), “Cop That S***,” and “Indian Flute” (both 2003).

On Monday (August 14), the artist known for “The Way I Are” shared a vintage clip featuring himself, Magoo, and Missy Elliott performing on a music TV show.

“This one hits differently,” Timbaland wrote alongside the video, accompanied by three crying-face emojis. “Long live Melvin aka magoo!!! Tim and Magoo forever, rest easy my king.”
