Suspect Identified

The suspect, identified as 25-year-old Jorge Chacon Gutierrez, was in the country illegally, according to federal and local law enforcement sources. Chacon Gutierrez was given a notice to appear at a later date and was released from federal custody without bond or release conditions.

Police were called to an apartment on Patricia Drive where the family violence assault occurred. Upon arrival, officers were met with gunfire from Chacon Gutierrez, who was laying in bed with a rifle. The officers returned fire while retreating.

SWAT Unit Involvement

The SWAT unit and tactical resources were deployed to get Chacon Gutierrez to surrender. Around 8 a.m., officers entered the apartment and found Chacon Gutierrez deceased. It is currently unclear if he was killed by officers’ gunfire or his own.

Eyewitness Account

Manuel Perez, a neighbor, recounted seeing the police arrive and the officer being pulled to safety after being hit by Chacon Gutierrez’s rifle rounds. Perez stated he had never had any problems with the neighbor.
