SWAT Raid Wakes Garland Neighborhood
Early one morning, residents of a Garland neighborhood were startled by a loud explosion as SWAT teams raided a home. Leon Marshal, a resident, described the scene: “I didn’t know what all was going on, I just heard the loud explosion, I saw SWAT team everywhere, I had no idea what was happening.”
Operation Targets Massive Auto Theft Ring
The raid was part of a larger operation targeting one of the largest auto theft rings in North Texas. Authorities suspect the group of planning and executing over 200 vehicle thefts across the Dallas-Fort Worth area in the past year.
Suspect Arrested and Luxury Vehicles Seized
During the raid, Jose Ramon Perez was arrested at his Garland home. Police seized two suspected stolen luxury vehicles from his property. One neighbor remarked, “For my understanding, the cars that were there were worth more than the home. I thought that was pretty surprising to hear.”
Previous Stolen Vehicles Linked to the Case
Neighbors, like Marshal, noted that the recent findings might explain why two stolen vehicles were found abandoned near the house in November.
High-Tech Tools Aid in Capture
Grapevine police utilized license plate readers and other advanced law enforcement tools to track and capture the suspects. Authorities believe Perez and his associates are facing first-degree felony charges for engaging in organized criminal activity.
Exotic Pet Discovery
In an unexpected twist, authorities also revealed that Perez allegedly kept a tiger illegally inside his house at one point, although it was not found during the raid.
