The Rickey Smiley Morning Show questioned if children of movie stars should automatically get a role in their parent’s film. Idris Elba’s daughter, Isan, auditioned for his latest movie, “Beast” with Will Packer. According to Gary With Da Tea, the actor’s daughter did not get the part. Because she did not get the part, the young lady stopped talking to her father for three weeks.

Elba is speaking out about the situation. He said the chemistry between his daughter and himself did not go over well on film, which is why she did not get the role. Gary said perhaps Isan should have gotten the part because the movie star is her father. The movie could have been a tremendous father-daughter film. He added that stopping the aspiring actress from joining her father on camera could have scarred her for life.

“Sometimes you have to give it to whoever, you know, auditioned best for the part,” said Rickey Smiley.

The film is not a father and daughter home movie; it is a major motion picture with millions of dollars and executives on the line, said the radio host. However, that is not the case for everyone, argued Gary.

“Well, it does with our counterparts; them people put their children in their movies and stuff,” said Gary.

Jamie Foxx was then used as an example. He starred in the “Jamie Foxx Show,” based on him and his daughter, who was not a part of the filming, said the morning show DJ. The daughter was not cast because she did not “clear.” Another of Jamie Foxx’s shows was brought up. Gary said Jamie Foxx’s daughter Corinne works with him on his show “Shazam.”  The morning show then debated the difference between a scripted show and an unscripted show.

Da Brat said unless the person is a seasoned actor or actress, the studio will go with a professional for the film, said the DJ. Gary said he still believes families first and relatives need a shot at getting a job working on the film.
