On April 4, 2023, the fire broke out early in the morning, spreading to a neighboring home. Pelt, a veteran firefighter and paramedic, was helping to combat the blaze but succumbed to smoke inhalation.

Evidence

Security footage captured a flash consistent with flames moments after Crisler and Virgil were seen near the property. Both were seen leaving the scene in separate vehicles.

Judicial Decisions

The judge allowed Moore to be placed on electronic monitoring, citing unattainable charges. Crisler and Virgil are being held at Cook County Jail.
